Foolishness is everywhere: in public and private life, in institutions, in the media, and sometimes even within ourselves. The conference “What Do We Do With So Many Fools?” starts from this banal observation and treats it with seriousness – without giving up on humor. The discussion explores types and mechanisms of foolishness as portrayed by a wide range of authors, from Homer and Aristophanes to Caragiale, Flaubert, and Eugène Ionesco. In the end, we return to the question in the title – a question that is neither rhetorical nor simple: What do we do with so many fools?
This four-hour conference will feature an interactive format, including a dedicated break for informal dialogue, where guests can enjoy fine drinks and culinary delights in an elegant setting designed to encourage the exchange of ideas and reflection.
