Joy Joy

Joy, surprise, pain are intensities of the present — direct manifestations of life, unmediated, that are inscribed in the body. The pavilion is proposed as a spatial device: a defined but not closed framework, capable of hosting the emergence of these states without prescribing them.

The space is not built to be traversed in a deterministic manner, but to allow the suspension of habits of perception. In this sense, the experience becomes an exercise in unlearning — a liberation from accumulations subsequent to early childhood — and, simultaneously, a recovery of a primary willingness to feel.

The architecture of the pavilion is dynamic, periodically ‘dressing itself’ in a surprising chromaticity. Thus it becomes a distinct instance of the present.

The pavilion does not represent, but invites, the immediate present to become perceptible.

Eliza Yokina

Eliza Yokina is an architect and designer, known for her sensitivity in reinterpreting space and meticulous attention to detail. Co-founder of the architectural firm SYAA in 2006 and of Cumulus Architecture in 2017, Eliza has made a significant contribution to the contemporary architectural landscape, exploring the relationship between man, space and the story of each place.

Actively involved in education and innovation, she is a founding member and board member of the Association of Architecture and the Romanian Association of Design and Innovation (ARDI). Throughout her career, she has been awarded numerous awards and distinctions. With a deep connection to art and object design, Eliza translates her vision into projects that transcend the conventional boundaries of architecture, exploring the limits of architecture through art, storytelling, education, identity. For her, the built space is an extension of nature, and each project is an opportunity to shape not only forms but also experiences, redefining the way we live and interact with life.
