The title METAFORA refers to the Greek origin of the word – metaphora, which means “transfer” or “transport”. Formed from meta (“beyond”) and pherein (“to carry”), the term suggests the idea of moving meaning from one place to another.
The METAFORA exhibition proposes a visual incursion into the complexity of symbolic thinking, where the image becomes the bearer of multiple meanings. In this meeting space between the visible and the invisible, the exhibition explores the mechanisms by which meanings are dislocated, overlapped and regenerated in a continuous game of translating meaning.
Metaphor is not only a poetic instrument, but a fundamental structure of knowledge, it functions as a link between experience and expression, between the personal and the universal, between the real and the imaginary. Whether it is about subtle plastic gestures, radical visual constructions or symbolically charged objects, each work becomes an open statement, a code susceptible to infinite decodings.
The exhibition proposes a polyphonic discourse, in which metaphor functions as a form of resistance, as a tool for probing intimacy. It invites the viewer to an exercise of active interpretation, challenging him to accept ambiguity as an aesthetic and cognitive resource. Metaphor thus becomes not just a title, but a process – a way of seeing, feeling and understanding the world through cultural artifacts.

Marian Pălie
Marian Pălie (b. 1978) lives and works in Bucharest, Romania. From his early years, he developed an interest in contemplative aesthetics, and the studies that followed supported this inclination: philosophy, theology, cultural anthropology. He holds a BA in philosophy and theology with a thesis on “Post-anticipations of modernity”, a MA in fashion and costume strategies (2013) and a PhD in Visual Arts from the National University of Arts Bucharest.
