about a world we can barely understand

this world drowned in regret and remorse

in fear of death whose footsteps have been heard not once
through the warm interior
from which life
anyway
did not give out?
I’ve never understood why I should care more
in the history of kings from a far-off land
than the history of tears streaming down someone’s cheek
who has lost a loved one.
Just as I didn’t understand why the empty beaches of midsummer
Have been declared oppressive & depressing.
Sometimes beauty goes through the world hand in hand with sadness.
And every one of us can take a selfie with them
as we once posed
in a mountain resort
with the bear killed
and then stuffed
without putting on too much
questions about life
of the animal
and without spilling too much
tears
for its death.”
