BOONICA is a new media installation that explores, with irony and humor, the future of surveillance systems and our increasingly intimate relationship with the technology that “watches us”.
Part of the design research project “The Future of Surveillance”, the installation proposes a more human and empathetic approach to the idea of surveillance, transforming it from a cold instrument into an interactive, playful and provocative experience.
Artists
Constantin Șarcov
Constantin is a designer and new media artist from Chisinau. Founder of the creative agency Piko, professor and lecturer in design. His and his team’s works are regularly exhibited at festivals such as Dutch Design Week, Dutch Innovation Days, Ars Electronica Austria, Barcelona Design Week, OFFF Barcelona, ArtTechTour, etc. He is included in the list of 200 best digital artists by Luerzers Archive, Austria.
Villi Mahnenco
Villi Mahnenco is a graphic designer and new media artist from Chisinau. Student at USM, Multimedia specialty. His works have been exhibited at Ars Electronica Austria 2024 (Chronicles of the River), Ars Electronica 2025 (Boonica) and OFFF Barcelona (Road Sings of Tomorrow).
Danil Feldman
Danil Feldman is a chemist and researcher from Chisinau, active at the Institute of Chemistry, where he works on the synthesis and study of organic compounds with biological activity, especially in projects related to hybrid materials with potential against human and agricultural pathogens. He graduated with a degree in biopharmaceutical chemistry from the State University of Moldova and has skills in chemistry, programming, and technical and graphic software tools. Within the Boonica facility, Danil implemented the software and robotics part.
