Te simt și totul e nou Te simt și totul e nou

“Te simt și totul e nou” is an interactive installation exploring identity as a continuum shaped by perception and irreversibility of the gaze. Created by Saint Machine in collaboration with Sergiu Negulici and Micleușanu Mitoș, the project features 3d representations of the artists that interact with visitors by looking into their eyes, in a struggle for attention and survival. The fragmented heads encapsulated in permeable membranes are spinning at the brink of disintegration. When visitors utter the phrase “te simt și totul e nou” (“I feel you and Everything is New”), the virtual heads momentarily stabilize and reassemble, locking eyes with the onlookers. Their gaze causes the artists’ 3d virtual heads to compose in new forms with each interaction. Referencing themes of genesis, memory, and dream, the project reinterprets Romanian cultural symbols in a digital ritualistic performance of identity and transformation. Blurring the line between reality and simulation, the work questions the nature of identity across physical and digital spaces, inviting visitors into a ritual of recognition, where the act of looking affirms both the subject’s and the observer’s existence.

SAINT MACHINE (b 1979) is a Romanian experimental artist and curator, author of immersive multimedia installations that use their observer to function. Her works investigate biological processes, proposing the idea of space seen as a living organism. These are organic sculptures with a digital core, testing the human willingness to cede one’s own physicality in exchange for digital content. In interacting with these light-emitting hybrid organisms, success in controlling them is always equivalent to willingness to allow oneself to be assimilated.

SERGIU NEGULICI (b 1974) is an animation director and digital artist, internationally known for the production of “Splendida Moarte Accident” (2017), a short film that won numerous awards in international animation festivals, including the prize for debut at the International Animation Festival in Annecy, France, or the Grand Prix of the International Animation Festival in Hiroshima, Japan.

MICLEUȘANU MITOȘ (b 1972) studied Fine Arts, writes prose and poetry, makes music and sound experiments and photography. Among his projects are Febre39, Pneumaton or Ermetic. Short films such as “Strigătul”, “Under the cup” or “Casa Poporului Gol” can be viewed on the YouTube channels “Undapreja” or “Brutfolk”. His books can be found (some) in bookstores, but also on www.alteratura.blogspot.com. Essays or articles: www.centralamarginala.blogspot.com, sound experiments on: www.micleusanu.bandcamp.com.
