CONFERENCE ORGANIZED UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF CREATIVE RESEARCH ACADEMY
October 6, 2025 | The Marmorosch Hotel, Bucharest
As part of Romanian Creative Week
Moderator: Lucian Broscățean
ABOUT CREATIVE RESEARCH ACADEMY
“Creative Research Academy is an educational initiative born from the desire to create a structured yet flexible framework for high-quality formative meetings.
Held under the aegis of the Federation of Employers in the Creative Industries (FEPIC), initiated by Irina Schrotter and co-curated by Bogdan Iacob and Lucian Broscățean, Creative Research Academy will organize conferences, workshops, and courses designed to provide participants with, on one hand, a clear overview of certain areas of contemporary reality, and on the other hand, specific and concrete skills in various professional fields—particularly those related to art in general and applied arts in particular, to information in general and visual information in particular, to public discourse in general and especially cultural discourse.
Far from aiming to replace existing academic institutions, Creative Research Academy seeks to be a complementary, open, and flexible educational structure, responding to relevant educational needs in formats that are harder to integrate within classical academic settings.
CRA is open to collaboration with specialists who have demonstrated, in one way or another, extraordinary skills in their field of activity, including members of academic communities both in Romania and abroad, as well as professionals who have made remarkable contributions in the industries in which they operate.”
Conference dedicated to Cultural Intellectual Property Rights®️
Context: Biocultural heritage and creative industries are increasingly intersecting which is the basis for this conference. Its aim is to open a dialogue on the recognition and protection of traditional cultural knowledge and expressions, as well as their role in shaping the future of creative industries. Unlike conventional forms of intellectual property protection, which belong to an individual author, cultural intellectual property rights are linked to the continuity and intergenerational transmission of biocultural heritage. The protection and continuity of these knowledge systems is crucial to prevent unauthorized exploitation and ensure that benefits are shared equitably with custodian communities. In this way, the dignity, diversity, and value of cultural expressions are preserved, and communities retain the right to manage and transmit their own knowledge and become valuable partners in processes of co-creation and socio-cultural entrepreneurship.
The conference aims to raise questions and open discussions on key topics:
What are the essential differences between intellectual property and cultural intellectual property?
What methodologies can support real collaboration with creative communities and custodians of biocultural heritage?
How can we generate systemic change in the creative industries by recognizing and respecting these rights?
How do we communicate the multifaceted value of culturally sustainable practices for the green economy and the circular economy?
How can a framework for collaboration between custodians, cultural entrepreneurs, and actors in the creative industries be built?
What do models and initiatives that promote and respect cultural intellectual property rights look like in practice?
What role could a Think-Tank, dedicated to this topic, play in generating concrete solutions based on an understanding of the needs of custodians and actors in the creative industries?
Through examples of good practice and the expertise of the guests, the conference becomes a space for reflection and co-creation. Its purpose is to inform and generate a new type of multidisciplinary awareness, to understand the concept of systemic change, and to inspire concrete actions by proposing models of collaboration that lead to systemic changes in the creative industries.

Together with Ioana Ciolacu, he coordinates and curates two sections: RFW Academia & RFW New Wave.
At the beginning of 2024 he made the decision to stop doing fashion/commercial projects and to stop presenting collections on the catwalk, to focus solely on visual research, history of costume, fashion theory, teaching, Fashion-Art projects and curation.
The consistency of historical perspectives, exploring the relationship between tradition and innovation, “Thinking Processes” as methods of investigating clothing, de(re)construction of shapes and volumes, mentoring as a sign of empathy — these are aspects that shape Lucian Broscățean’s professional path.
