Dehydration stage Dehydration stage

The installation consists of a series of vegetal components that complement each other in
order to describe a natural process, as well as the reversibility and usefulness of a
transitional stage. The installation is complemented by a video projection, a series of
wooden objects and a soundscape playing in the background. The term dehydration refers
to the condition of a total or partial shortage of water in the human body. More broadly, the
term dehydration is associated with neurological changes, general discomfort, confusion,
fatigue that cannot be explained. In the realm of plants, these symptoms are reduced to
excessive photosynthesis, wilting and raw sap in stasis.

signs: dry, faded surface
symptoms: thirst
causes: lack of water
prevention: constant presence of water

The role of water defines the appearance of the plant as well as its course of life. The
hydrophytic ideal, in which the plant adapts to aquatic life, with its leaves at the surface of
the water and the root hidden away, remains the only hope in the absence of water. An
illusion and a projection at the same time, a part of the delirious confusion in which the plant
finds itself deprived of vital liquid.

The life cycle of spermatophyte plants is divided into five stages: germination, growth and
development, flowering and pollination, seed formation and seed dispersal. In the context of
this installation, the seeds are meant to challenge or elucidate another mystery — that of
perpetuation.

Approach: a preamble space where the installation will outline its intention and a main space
that will host the installation itself.

The installation contains the following elements: elastic pillars, plants (stems, leaves and
corollas), wooden/metal support boxes, wood fiber objects and miniatures, canvas (art work
in clay), video projection, soundtrack.
