Loc:us Loc:us

The installation Loc:us transforms itself in both time and space while introducing the future into the present. Various inserts, whether from fixed objects or not, are perceived not as inanimate, but as living, breathing entities that react to visitors’ presence as much as visitors are expected to react to their surroundings.

Composed of an amalgamation of static and moving components that breathe life into the space, Loc:us invites you to look beyond the expected in order to connect with the space that contains you. It is a tool that brings focus to the moment and encourages the visitor to experience and appreciate their surroundings as another active participant. The visitor is guided and encouraged to explore the space and enjoy the different levels of engagement with its components. The space is dedicated to play and the use of imagination while asserting its place-ness. Loc:us will be an experiential tool that provokes meaning and interest in the otherwise mundane.

The purpose of this experience is to draw attention to things that may otherwise be dismissed as part of the context. This will create an opportunity to bring a sense of movement when nothing is happening, drawing and focusing the eye to find meaning in the environment. It will encourage visitors to pause and admire, to physically engage and interact, to gaze and wonder, and to contemplate and introspect.
